Wildfire Claims in the Canadian Energy Sector

This session will provide a review of the dramatic 2023 Western Canadian wildfire season, the impacts and claims that energy companies faced during this time. SteegeXP and MDD will review how wildfires affected production and how Policies responded, with a focus on BI Extensions, including: civil authority, off premises service interruption, and ingress/egress. The experts will provide loss adjusting and forensic accounting insights, before addressing what future risks and potential claims energy insurers may face in the upcoming 2024 wildfire season.

Speakers

Richard Collins is a Principal Adjuster at SteegeXP and has worked in energy claims since 2013, starting his career in London at SteegeXP's predecessor. Richard has a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering from Loughborough University, Dip CII (Claims), CIP and Canadian adjuster licensing.
