About the Event
Well Control (lunch & Learn)
This presentation will cover the basics of well control and expectations of the crew when shutting in a flowing oilwell. With the vast majority of well control events being attributed to human error, it is of utmost importance that crews working on oilwells are prepared to recognize and respond efficiently to the precursors of a blowout. The consequence of failed response will lead to property damage, pollution events and, in the worst of cases, fatalities.
Speaker: David Cargill
A graduate from the University of Aberdeen, who joined the oilfield in 2006. David worked on semi- submersibles in various roles in the drill crew for 6 years. Involved in drilling operations, running completions, well testing and well servicing. Strong interest in the rig’s well control equipment and the role of the subsea engineer.
Moved to Wild Well Control in 2012, working as an International Well Control Instructor, creating, and delivering industry  approved  IADC and  IWCF courses  globally.  In 2015 moved  into  WWC’s  Ops department, working within a highly specialized group providing emergency response service to the oilfield globally. Scope of work ranging from subsurface pressure control issues, to well blowouts and well fires.
David joined Lloyd Warwick in 2023.Â
